Starting this work can be daunting and people considering therapeutic work often have really important questions. Below are some of the questions we get asked by our clients and what we say in response:

Isn't therapeutic work only for people with 'issues'?

That's not how we see it. It is a way for people to take control and move towards achieving a goal that they feel they will improve their life. Too often we link therapeutic work with being in some sort of crisis but this is not usually the case. It is an effective way of managing our health so that we can face what life throws at us.

What is therapeutic work?

There are many different  approaches to therapeutic work; the psychologist and client work together to move the client forward. The psychologist brings their knowledge of different theories and strategies which the client then uses in their life to overcome any difficulties and achieve their goals.

What's the process?

Once you contact us by completing the enquiry form (click the button below), one of our psychologists will contact you to briefly discuss the changes you want and answer any questions. We will then book an initial meeting where we will discuss any difficulties,  identify your goals and work out the best approach for you to achieve the outcomes you want.  We will agree  how often our meetings will take place and how these will fit in with your life so we can complete the work and you achieve your goals. A report summarising the initial meeting is sent to you to keep. Meetings can take place face to face at our clinic or remotely through video calling.

How long does it take?

The length of time that it takes to achieve goals really depends on the individual, the goals they are wanting to achieve and the type of work being completed. It also depends what difficulties the work is looking to ease, generally speaking difficulties that have been around longer are likely to take longer to tackle.  As standard, we suggest six meetings and then review progress to think about whether more work is needed.  But some need more or less than this.

How much does therapeutic work cost?

Costs vary depending on the type of work being completed. Standard therapeutic meetings start at £80 each. Initial meetings start at £120 as a one off fee, due to the time required to set up the meeting and the written report that follows. Meetings completed over video call are charged at the lowest rates we offer. We also accept insurance from the companies displayed below. Further details regarding payment can be discussed prior to booking an initial meeting.
