hemotion is a new organisation established to promote the psychological wellbeing of men and boys and reduce the number of preventable deaths that are caused by suicide. We want men and boys to feel more able to recognise when they are struggling with emotional distress, feel empowered to speak openly about this and ask for help when they need it.
What is hemotion?

Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under the age of 45 in the UK and male suicide outnumbers female suicide 3:1. This suggests that the way men and women experience and manage emotional and psychological distress is different. Some factors believed to contribute to the shocking male suicide statistic include: social and cultural views on masculinity, men and boys feeling less able to speak about distress and lower rates of accessing health and social support services.
